WHO Retracts Article Regarding Vaping has Linked to Heart Attack

Vaping, as a culture and trend, is growing rapidly. Anything that moves to the mainstream starts garnering a lot of unwanted attention. That's definitely the case with this article regarding vaping written by Dharma Bhatta and Stanton Glantz of the University of California, San Francisco, which stated that 'E-cigarettes cause heart-attacks.' The World Health Organization (WHO) and the journal which published it retracted the study recently.

About 1 billion people smoke cigarettes worldwide, which is a huge market. Even though vaping is just a newly-growing trend, there are at least 41 million adults who vaped in 2018, and that number is expected to grow to 55 million by 2021, according to Euromonitor.

There are seven main reasons people quoted when asked why they started vaping. The majority of them, 43%, started vaping because they wanted to quit smoking regular cigarettes.

A lot of the issues that come from smoking cigarettes doesn't come from the nicotine, which is addictive, but not harmful, but from inhaling burned plant matter and additives. This means that e-cigarettes with purely extracted nicotine products without any additives can be far healthier for you than normal cigarettes.

The Problem With the Article Regarding Vaping Is That It's Out There Spreading False Messages

The Internet is a miraculous thing - you can get information on any subject, at any time of day, with the click of a few buttons.

But the Internet also has its faults. That is misinformation from the article about vaping, being spread about at the speed of light, through the entire webosphere, without any regard for actual facts.

Millions of people, who are currently smoking, and were thinking about switching to vaping, might be deterred because they are afraid of the claims that the article made about heart attacks.

The Study Participants Had Heart Attacks Before They Started Vaping

Brad Rodu, a frequent proponent of vaping, said that the article from Bhatta and Glantz made false conclusions because the majority of the 38 patients in the study had heart attacks before they started vaping, at least ten years earlier, on average. That's a big gap, and that's a huge dose of false propaganda being spread about carelessly.

The problems with the study have been revealed, but Glantz purports that he stands behind the study as it is. Even though the article has been retracted by the Journal of the American Heart Association, it's still out there online in various places, spreading lies.

The outrageous thing is that even though the scientific community has basically told Bhatta and Glantz that they are wrong, and they need to take their statements back, they still stand by their wrongdoings.

When intelligentsia like them are being manipulated and confused by wrong information about vaping, then what chance do common folks like us have?

Vaping Proponents Stand Behind Its Usefulness as an Alternative to Smoking

The COVID-19 pandemic was a stark reminder that life is short, and things happen in the world that is out of your control. It also reiterated the importance of lungs and lung health, quite forcefully.

This was a benefit, as many people switched to vaping as an alternative to smoking during the lockdown. Thus, they were able to quit smoking because there was nothing else during that time, except vape and dream of 2021.

One of the main reasons vaping advocates is so against the article regarding vaping is because vaping doesn't contain all of the dangerous byproducts that normal cigarettes do. 7000 of them, to be exact.

For this exact reason, e-cigarettes are considered to be 95% less harmful than smoking. Bravo!!

The article regarding vaping from Bhatta and Glantz is highly damaging, but it's repairable if we keep on spreading the truth about vaping and e-cigarettes.

Vaping Is Better for You Than Smoking - That's the Whole Point Here

Not only are there no harmful byproducts as outlined above, but also the nicotine that is condemned as the demon in cigarettes isn't actually as harmful as everyone thinks.

While nicotine is addictive, Professor Linda Bauld, Cancer Research UK's prevention expert, said it's actually the thousands of other chemicals that come along with the nicotine that actually damages DNA and causes cancer.

If you are a smoker and thinking about quitting, you might be afraid of quitting cold turkey. That's an understandable fear.

But don't let that deter you. It's all about taking baby steps, up to the goal of being completely smoke-free. That takes time, perseverance, and support. The kind of support that you can get from your e-cigarette.

It's better to vape than to be sorry. Maybe kids will be saying that one day.

Vaping Keeps Things Interesting With Different Flavourings, Helping You Quit Faster

When you vape, you are actually consuming nicotine in a healthier vapor format rather than tobacco smoke because it doesn't come with all those chemicals we spoke about earlier.

Also, the e-cigarette liquid contains additional substances like vegetable glycerin and flavorings. There's enough variety with flavorings so that you will be able to change flavors every time you get bored and have the urge to start smoking again.

Loneliness, or actually boredom, is one of the main reasons ex-smokers fail in their mission of quitting smoking. You've spent so much time smoking now that you can't imagine a life without it.

That's why it's important at this crucial juncture to keep going and use distractions, like different vaping products and flavorings, to keep things interesting.

Don't Let the Media Confuse You - Stay Strong, Vaping Friends

Vaping is one of the main ways out there for a lot of people who were stuck in the confusing maze of smoking normal cigarettes. We mustn't let the article regarding vaping causing heart-attacks and other misguided information like that affect our journey towards the goal of long-term health.

Either way, vaping is here to stay, and it's a boon to a lot of people out there who need it to stave off the cigarette cravings.

For now, let's keep vaping and steady on. If you enjoyed this article, please check out our other posts for more vaping-related information.

I don’t know about saving money, after all the cheap China crap that I’ve purchased over time!!! Every mod I’ve bought broke shortly after!!! Disposable is the way to go. I like Milli disposables, they’re made in the U. S. so I can be satisfied with the quality and the flavors are just better IMO. Also what’s up with most disposable vapes having a minty aftertaste? Strawberry ice cream shouldn’t have a minty aftertaste. Not the case with Milli!!!
