What is sub-ohm vaping?

Sub-ohm vaping increases the overall output of your vaping device when you decrease the resistance of your coils. Your coil resistance is how much opposition is registered to the regular flow of electricity in your coil. You are officially sub-ohm vaping when your coil resistance is less than 1 ohm. In order to vape this method safely, one must have a basic level of knowledge of Ohm’s Law and battery safety.

What is Ohm's Law?

This law states that the current passing through a conductor is proportional to the voltage over the resistance. Ohms are simply the measurement in which this is all measured, based off of Ohm’s Law. 

Battery safety and sub-ohm vaping:

As awesome at this vaping technique is, when the resistance of your coils is lowered, you must be aware of your battery's amperage limit as to be sure to not to exceed them. Exceeding this limit can lead to an explosion of your battery and device, or a possible fire. This being said, sub-ohm vaping is only dangerous when it is used without the proper information and knowledge.

Batteries should be closely monitored to ensure that they are in the proper condition to handle sub-ohm vaping. Pros:

The biggest pros of sub-ohm vaping are the enormous amount of vapor output and the flavor intensity of your e juices. In other words, this is great for people looking for huge clouds and savory flavor from their e liquids. It also provides a much warmer vapor output which can be a positive for some. Another pro is the ability to use mesh coils which supposedly have better durability and produces smoother and more flavorful vapor.

Cons:

The biggest con of sub-ohm vaping is that it can be dangerous if not performed correctly. This con can easily be countered if you learn the proper information. You will probably have to take some extra time to study Ohm’s Law, but in the end, you may very possibly find your vaping experience has greatly improved. Another con is that if you make any irreparable mistakes, you can damage your device.The biggest key is to just take your time and be careful!

Devices:

Sub-Ohm vaping can be performed on any device that allows vaping at less than 1 ohm. Regulated mods have built-in chips that can monitor your battery amperage and coil resistance. If you are not at safe levels, the device will not fire. Portable devices are MTL and will not have the battery amperage to support sub-ohm vaping. 

Sub-ohm tanks:

Sub-ohm tanks will have replaceable pre-made coils. You can also purchase disposable sub-ohm atomizers for a decently low price which are easily replaceable. These coils can come in a plethora of options, including as mesh coils.

Rebuildable devices can also be used for sub-ohm vaping, as long as your coils are built at the correct resistance for your device and battery. Sub-ohm vaping and e liquids:

Because sub-ohm vaping creates such a large amount of vapor in mouth-to-lung hits, vaping salt nics is not your best bet.This is because of the proportion of pg to vg. The more nicotine with such a large vapor intake will create a harsh and possibly painful hit.  Freebase liquids are ideal for sub-ohm vaping as they will not create too harsh of a hit, but rather a warm and enjoyable one because of their pg to vg ratio.
