All You Need to Know About JUUL

ALEX ZEIG

By October of 2018, JUUL accounted for 75% of all e-cigarette sales in the United States. Its trendy design and hi-tech features have earned it the moniker, ‘the iPhone of e-cigs’.

To many people, JUUL isn’t just an alternative to tobacco, it’s a fashion statement. To others, it’s a way of getting a nicotine fix without taking in all the poisons associated with tobacco.

There are still others who consider JUUL a way of smoking on a budget. For these and other reasons, JUUL e-cigarettes are rapidly growing in popularity. Dive into this article and learn all you need to know about JUUL.

What is JUUL?

In the recent past, vape culture has been all the rave. It’s touted as a cool way of providing safer alternatives to smoking. JUUL is the trendiest of e-cigs at the moment. It’s USB shaped thus its design provides youthful, hi-tech connotations.

A JUUL has two parts, the device and the cartridge. The device is the longer bottom part. It consists of a battery and a temperature regulation system. The cartridge contains the e-liquid also known as vape juice. For a JUUL, the cartridge is also the mouthpiece.

The JUUL battery is normally recharged using a USB charger. The device comes with a standard USB charger on purchase.

Unlike other e-cigs, the JUUL has no settings as it requires none to function. It has sensors so that the moment you pull on the mouthpiece, it automatically heats and vaporizes the liquid.

It’s designed this way to keep the users from having to change its settings. Changing settings has been associated with overheating and explosions in other e-cigs.

In addition to this, the JUUL has been fitted with internal temperature regulation features. The JUUL pod is a closed system. This means that the vape juice therein can’t be refilled.

Lack of refilling option allows for quality control as only the manufacturer approved pods may be used with the JUUL. A tank system, which some other e-cigs use leaves room for adulteration of the juice.

Contents of the Cartridge

According to the manufacturer, thorough screening is done to ensure that no known harmful or potentially harmful substances find their way into the pod.

The e-cig cartridges for JUUL are known as JUUL pods. Each pod contains the following;

  • Benzoic acid
  • Propylene glycol
  • Flavourants
  • Sweeteners
  • Nicotine salts

One JUUL pod contains 5% nicotine which is as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes would have. The JUUL pod has more nicotine than most of the other vape juices. One of the factors contributing to the JUUL allure is the flavors available.

Some of the flavors include Virginia Tobacco, Crème Brulee and Fruit Medley, Cool Mint and Mango.

Is the Juul Better than Cigarettes?

Cigarettes have conclusively been proved to contain carcinogens. The heating of tobacco at 1,000oC during smoking produces a large number of those carcinogens. Although JUUL produces a nicotine hit as strong as that of tobacco, there are significant differences between the two.

These differences are on both the contents and in the manner that they’re heated.

Cigarettes’ nicotine comes from tobacco leaves. JUUL, on the other hand, gets its nicotine from propelyne glycol. Tobacco leaves contain many more toxins that propylene glycol.

The amount of heat used in heating JUUL is about 300oC which is much lower than the heat used on tobacco.

Nicotine is addictive but it doesn’t cause cancer. Although JUUL and cigarettes both produce nicotine, the risk for cancer when using JUUL is much lower than when smoking cigarettes.

Effects of Using JUUL

Like other e-cigs, JUUL is meant to be used by smokers as a first step to quitting smoking all together. It could indeed be a step towards quitting for those who smoke cigarettes for the following reasons:

  • Its appearance is different from that of a cigarette. The idea behind this design was to keep the smoker from associating the JUUL with cigarettes.
  • The second reason is that it doesn’t produce smoke, thus the user will experience none of the visual effects associated with smoking.
  • Medical experts have found that the JUUL like other e-cigs is safer than cigarettes. The relative higher level of safety doesn’t mean that there are no negative effects to their use.
  • JUUL has as much nicotine as cigarettes and nicotine is the addictive element in cigarettes. Therefore, JUUL continues to feed your nicotine addiction but in a safer way.

If you’re struggling with quitting cigarettes smoking, then you should give JUUL a try! If you’re an adult smoker seeking to quit, there’s no other better option than checking out the vaping products you can buy online to kill this addiction!
