A little CBD Basic Knowledge

Yes, CBD does come from the cannabis plant. But, no, it does not have any way of getting you high all on its own. CBD is just one cannabinoid among many that often appear in cannabis.

CBD is responsible for many of the medicinal/relief effects in cannabis. It’s anti-inflammatory properties make CBD perfect for muscle soreness, and the anti-anxiety effects can help with relaxation, among many other positive effects.

How do I use a CBD tincture?

Tinctures are taken sublingually, which means underneath your tongue. Just like an eyedropper, squeeze the rubber top to suck up the CBD blend and pull it from the bottle. You’ll want to tip your head back slightly, and put the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth to expose the underside. Then just pinch the desired number of drops into the bottom of your mouth and let it sit there for roughly 30-60 seconds (refer to product instructions for specific timing).

Much like CBD capsules and pills, tinctures are good for people treating CBD like medicine because it’s not candy or treats. Most droppers are going to have measurements on them to let you know approximately how much you’re taking, which is usually measured in milligrams per drop.

How is a CBD tincture different from an edible?

Because of the sublingual delivery method, a CBD tincture is going to absorb through your saliva glands and then will move right into your bloodstream shortly after. This means that if an edible typically takes 30-60 minutes to kick in, a tincture will usually start working within 10-15 minutes.

This makes tinctures ideal for people that are using CBD to treat their migraines. When your head is pounding, you don’t want to be waiting an hour for relief to start rolling in, so the fast-acting tincture is just what you need if you can’t or won’t vape CBD.

How does a CBD oral spray work?

Just as it’s explained above, an oral spray is going to work sublingually. With a spray, however, it’s easier to use on the go and much more discreet.
